Band
Where there is much light, the shadows are deepest.
Lumaria was born in Mount Shasta, CA. See, a dream came to Sam Mujica one night that told him to gather three specific people and head to the mountain. Not being one to question these types of things,he gathered Kevin Coyle, Jeff Gorski and headed north of Los Angeles. They arrived with no plan and no final destination other than the town itself.
The trio ended up in a little place called the Black Bear Diner. As they waited for their breakfast, a local boy walks up to the table and asks them a question "What size snare drum should I get for my kit?". Kevin & Sam look at each other confused, because even though they had spoken of using this trip to create a band name they had yet to speak about music at all that entire morning. They answer the boy’s question, but he quickly follows with another "Well, you guys do music right.....What's the name of your band?". Again confused, they say there is no name yet for the project. The boy advises that they go look at the gift shop. They head over to the shop and see that it is filled with the mythology of the Lemarian people. Seeing this as a sign and a good starting point Sam begins to create variations of the name. Being fascinated with the idea of light, "lume" feels right to him and thus Lumaria was born. This name is the very soul and ideal behind the music. It is the very essence and representation of the band.
The band felt complete, but Sam had been long toying with the idea of adding some kind of feminine energy to the music by way of a female vocalist. Luckily for the band Jenna Glanville had seen a video of the band rehearsing a song and asked if she could take part. It was incredible timing. Not only was she a classically trained vocalist, but also skilled on the piano and violin as well.
Now in the beginning of this year, the guitarist decided to take another path away from the band so that led the band on a search for a guitarist that would fit the situation as the band was finishing up with the recording process for their debut EP. This led to the discovery of Brandon Hillery who was an astonishing fit. With many years in the music industry, he was the fully equipped to take on any challenge thrown his way. The band could not have wished for a better addition to the project.
Now with the players and sound they wanted they began heading forward at a sprinting pace. Lumaria is a young band, but a force to be reckoned with already. Brimming with talent and uplifting compositions the band is on its way to touching peoples souls with the light they intended. Welcome to Lumaria...welcome to the country of light.
